It’s time to get back to basics when it comes to money. With all the talk of the economy and the bailout during this season, let’s remember some foundational guidelines for managing money.
Let’s be content with what we have and get rid of greed. Selfish ambition leads to disorder and the love of money is the root of all evil.
We must pay taxes, something that’s been around since ancient times. We must render payment to whom payment is due. We will be most productive if we work six days and rest one. We should be diligent and hard-working in all our labors, not lazy. We must respect authority while not bowing down to evil.
Let’s set aside a percentage of our incomes to give to charitable causes, at times choosing to be generous above and beyond that. These tithes (the percentage) and offerings (gifts above that) are eternal investments with excellent rewards. God loves a cheerful giver.

Money is man’s imperfect system. It is impossible to love both God and money; we will hate one and love the other. We can’t love both. Working is good, but not just for money. Money is good; it’s not for loving. I work for Jesus; I have all I need. I worship Jesus; I work for Him.
My God shall supply all your needs according to His riches in glory.

King Solomon asked for a discerning heart to distinguish right and wrong in order to better govern the people – he was only a little child. God gave him wisdom to administer justice. Leaders with God-given wisdom are empowered, prepared, equipped, and trained by Him. God raises up leaders and accomplishes His purposes through them, no matter their age.
